I'm gonna call him George (Sedum nussbaumerianum sp.)

When I first acquired the Georges, several of them were a long straggly succulent mess. They had been my daughter's. The reason they were being sent to Oma's house was because the grandkid required more space. Clearly, the grandkid had also stolen time from Mom prior to the relocation of the plant - hence the straggly part. Luckily succulents thrive on a bit of neglect and they had been doing just fine at my daughter's house prior to losing the space war. I should have taken a more "before" pictures, but I didn't. I can pull these images from the overview pictures on the 'the succulents are coming' post . These are the smaller specimen - the ones that fit on the shelves. The succulents are coming!

My first-born daughter has a toddler who needs a bedroom of her own. They live in a 2-bedroom apartment. Daddy was eying the ‘guest’ room - occupied mostly by succulents, and the occasional visitor - as a possible room for the toddler. Since I am a wonderful grandmother with a well-developed mother-instinct (that extends to snakes, dogs and apparently succulents), I graciously offered refuge for my daughter's succulents that were occupying said bedroom. Are you curious what happened to them? My daughter was - and I told her that I'd let her know. I was going to send the occasional picture just for fun, but succulents - they're something else. I've had plants before, but nothing prepared me for succulents. For starters, I really did not understand why my daughter didn't know any of their names... ..little did I know... George, Ghosts and the Donkey Tail

My daughter has a 2-year-old with a need for a bedroom. Since I am a wonderful grandmother, I graciously offered refuge for the succulents that would be displaced when their space was taken over by the munchkin. We did not have plants at my house when my kids were little, because we always had cats that would eat them. I still have a cat, but this cat ignores plants. So, I can have plants again! I may just have gone a little overboard, but who would judge me for a few extra plants? As my oldest granddaughter says, "It's better than spending money on drugs." My daughter had a whole shelf full of succulents - none of them with labels since most of them were leaf propagations from varying sources. Not knowing who-is-who is driving me nuts... This blog is an attempt at cataloging what I have; exploring what is new - just keeping track - and enjoying the pictures of succulents.
